How to become a Substitute Teacher for Sunnyside
Complete an application online at susd12.org > Careers > Current Openings > Substitute
Along with your application, you will be required to provide the following documents:
- Teacher/Substitute Certificate
- Official College Transcripts
- IVP Clearance Card
- Immunization Record (MMR)
- Signed Letters of Reference (3)
When your application is complete; it will be reviewed and released to the Substitute Coordinator for consideration. Your application will be retained on file for one year from the date of submission.
Substitute teachers are hired and managed through the Substitute Office, a division of Human Resources. An automated computer system, Absence Management (formally AESOP) is utilized for soliciting and filling Teacher vacancies as needed daily.
Program Requirements
- Applicant must be certified to substitute teach in Arizona by the Arizona Department of Education (ADE).
- The certificate must be registered in Pima County, Office of the Superintendent of Schools.
Daily Compensation:
Regular Substitute-Teacher
- Initial 20 days
- Daily Rate – $140.00
- Half Day Rate – $70
- Friday Premium Pay
- Daily Rate – $165
- After completing 20 days as a Sub-Teacher
- Daily Rate – $150
- Half Day Rate – $75
- PTO Accrual; 1/hour per every 30/hours worked (Paid Time Off)
Long-Term Substitute-Teacher
Substitute teachers migrating to a long-term position from the daily sub pool:
- Rate of pay in the same position is $165 (Daily Rate)
- Medical, Dental & Vision (Optional)
- PTO Accrual; 1/hour per every 30/hours worked (Paid Time Off)
SUSD Retiree (Post-R) Sub-Teacher
- Daily rate of pay from the first day is $150 (Daily Rate)
