Open Enrollment for July 1, 2022

Open enrollment for employees has closed. If you were hired after Open Enrollment ended, you are still eligible for benefits. Your benefits will begin on the 1st of the month, 30 days after your initial hiring date. For example, if your hire date was September 15, 30 days after your hire date is October 15. Therefore, your benefits will begin on November 01.

Current Year Benefits Deductions

Beginning August 12, 2022 your insurance premiums will be deducted from your paycheck. During the 2022/2023 benefit plan year, our employees will have a maximum of 21 pay period deductions for their benefits. This will affect ALL employees who elected benefits. Payroll deductions will include medical, dental, vision and all voluntary life insurances you may have elected.

Coverage for all benefits will begin July 1.

Please review your direct deposit paystub in detail to ensure that the appropriate deductions are coming out of your paycheck. The insurance confirmation statement produced during open enrollment will display your insurance elections and bi-weekly deduction amounts.

You must meet specific requirements for wages earned or time worked during an established period of time, be determined to be unemployed through no fault of your own (determined under state law) and meet other eligibility requirements to qualify for Unemployment Insurance benefits.

To qualify for UI benefits, you must be out of work through no fault of your own. Workers who are laid off for economic reasons due to a plant closing, a reduction-in-force, or because of lack of work, for example — are considered to be unemployed through no fault of their own. If your reason for separation from your last job is due to some reason, a determination will be made about whether or not you are eligible for benefits. All determinations of whether or not a person is eligible for benefits are made by the appropriate Arizona Revised Statute, Administrative Code or applicable federal laws.

Letters of Reasonable Assurance (i.e., Work Agreements/Contracts) –
If an employee has received a Work Agreement from SUSD, they are considered to have active employment and therefore do not qualify for umployment benefits. This applies for periods when the school district is on break and includes fall, winter, spring, and summer.

When you are ready to retire, please contact the HR Department at ext. 2003 for the necessary paperwork to get your started on your next adventure in life! HR will notify the Benefits office, who will send you information in the mail about continuing your coverages.

Risk Management

If you are injured on the job, regardless of whether you will need time off as a result of your injury or not, please contact Ken Kmak at extension 2175, or email [email protected].
