Letter Grades are In!
After two years of no state-issued letter grades, all schools in the Sunnyside Unified School District received passing grades! 14 out of 19 schools that were evaluated improved their scores, and no D's or F's were issued which indicates that SUSD students demonstrated growth and evidence of learning!
We are pleased to share our data with the Sunnyside community as we work to recover from the impacts of the pandemic and ensure our students have the resources and opportunities they need to thrive. While we are seeing many positive trends in the data, we recognize that we have work to do to ensure our students achieve their full potential. There are a number of areas where our students performed well, and there are also areas where we have identified a need for improvement.
"I am incredibly proud of our hard-working students and educators for putting forth their best efforts under extremely challenging conditions. Through data evaluation, we focus on continuous improvement so that school leaders and educators can make the necessary adjustments to ensure the success of our students in the classroom. We remain committed to ensuring that our students receive the best educational experiences so that they leave our schools college, career and community ready," said Superintendent Gastelum.
It is important to note that the A–F letter grade formula relies mostly on standardized test scores and does not tell the whole story of student performance and growth, and test scores are one snapshot in time that reflect the students' performance on one test, on one day.
