Anniversary Recognition
Frances Stoler and Dolores Lopez receive the 45 years of service awards

- What will employees who have reached significant milestones receive?
SUSD has created commemorative pins and “challenge coins” to recognize employees for their commitment to the district. Employees who have served SUSD for 5 years to 19 years will receive commemorative pins, whereas employees who have served SUSD for 20 or more years will receive challenge coins and pins.
- When can I receive my anniversary pin and/or coin?
Anniversaries, for the purpose of this program, are acknowledged every five years, such as at the 5, 10, 15, 20, 25-year anniversaries, and so on.
- What if I'm not celebrating a milestone anniversary this year?
Employees will only receive anniversary pins/coins when they reach an anniversary of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, 45, 50, years.
- How will pins and coins be issued?
The Human Resources Department will distribute pins and coins to employees who have reached milestones on a quarterly basis during the school year.
- If I worked at SUSD, left the district and then returned to SUSD, will my total years of service be recognized, or will I only be recognized for consecutive years?
Your total years of service to SUSD will be recognized, in other words, if you had a gap year(s), this wouldn’t affect your total years of service to SUSD for the purposes of this program.
- What if I already retired but returned to SUSD as a BERP employee?
SUSD will not issue anniversary pins or coins after an employee has officially retired, even if they continue to serve as BERP employees.
For the inaugural year of this program only (2024) SUSD will retro-gift a pin/coin to a BERP employee going back one anniversary level.
BERP employees will not continue to accrue years of service with SUSD that would make them eligible for an additional pin/coin should they reach another milestone anniversary.
- What if I already retired but returned to SUSD as a Post-R employee (ESI), or a part-time employee?
If you fall under this category, your years of service as a Post-R (ESI) or part-time employee will count towards your total years of service.
- What if I’ve been a long term substitute employee in SUSD?
Long term substitutes will be eligible to receive a pin or a coin. Total years of service will be taken into account.
- What if I lost or damaged my pin and/or coin?
SUSD is not responsible for replacing stolen, lost or damaged pins and coins.
- What if I was issued a coin/pin that doesn’t accurately reflect my years of service?
First, contact your HR Site Specialist to verify. If it is determined that you were issued the incorrect coin/pin, you must turn in the incorrect item(s) in order to receive the pin and/or coin that corresponds to your years of service.
- Can I purchase a pin and/or coin to replace my lost/damaged item, or to purchase one for someone else?
SUSD is not allowed to sell these items and our vendor will not manufacture individual orders.
